2006 Parents and Grads Nights

On July 22, 2006, Malasiquinians of San Diego County honored and recognized the Class 2006 Graduates, including their parents and grandparents for their academic achievements at MCAS "O" Club. High School: Melanie Calimlim, Jason Poquiz, Al Sison III. College: Christine Poquiz (BA Political Science), Tiffany Caragan (BS Biology), Alexander Caragan (BS Electrical Engineering), Marc Macaraeg (Commissioned 2nd Lt US Army), and Christina Noche (Culinary Arts).

The event was highlighted by the proclamation of Gerry and Perfid Bulatao as Malasiquinians 2006 Parents of the Year by Mardy M. Imus, MSDC President. They were then serenaded by the MSDC Choral Group live with the accompaniment of the handsome guitarist, Felix Macaraeg with their favorite songs during their High School years (1960's) till they got married and have children. I saw the energy, dedication and enthusiasm of the MSDC Choral Group, they were still rehearsing their songs 2 minutes before the event started. The Choral Group was organized by our beautiful, ever young-looking, multi-talented, choreograher, director, and also the night's emcee, Sally Geslani.

Graduates did appreciate the free dinners, cash awards, and plaques from the donors. Thanks for the generous financial support and services from the MSDC officers/members for tonights events. Big thank you to: our treasurers, the two Imeldas: Imelda Calimlim and Imelda Macasieb; Noemi and Lily who worked diligently to make sure the guests were directed to their tables smoothly; Awards coordinator: Connie Dacasin and Emily Poquiz; Performers/Entertainers: Jenna, Michelle, Melanie, Rachelle. And to other officers/members, your active involvement and volunteering a little bit of your time made this event a success, and made my job easier. Mayor's Visit, July 11, 2006

Malasiquinians of San Diego County (MSDC) gave a very warm welcome to Mayor Alfonso Soriano and his beautiful wife, Madame Fe at the residence of Mardy and Julie Imus. MSDC supports the Mayor's project, the Malasiqui Hospital construction/2nd floor expansion. Our association intends to donate AC Units and EKG machine for the Hospital. This Fund Raising project will surely help the poor, underpriviledged kabaleyans who could not afford the expensive health care. If you want to be a part of this project, please contact Mardy M. Imus or Imelda Macasieb.

Golden Acorn Casino Trip

On May 27, 2006, we kicked off our Golden Acorn Casino Fund Raising. OUR THANKS to MSDC officers, members and guests, who participated on this good cause as well as the coordinators who lend their services for this trip. We raised about $800.00 for this casino trip. While we were waiting for our turn to receive the $15.00 voucher from the casino, we paused for a moment and took a souvenir picture. Yes, we were all smiling! At about 4pm, some have bigger smiles, some with smaller smiles, while others won't smile at all. Some lucky winners donated a portion of their winnings to the club. The bottom line, I think everybody enjoyed the trip, and wants to do another casino trip again. Click comment option for feed back. Double click image to enlarge.

Easter Picnic by the Bay

On April 16, 2006, MSDC held its annual Easter Sunday picnic at Mission Bay park. This family oriented event was a very relaxing and enjoyable day for everyone. Kids and big kids alike enjoyed the Easter eggs hunt, games, prizes, and food. As usual, the club provided a big lechon. In addition, a fund raising for selling MSDC baseball caps was successful. All caps were sold out. I reordered 36 more caps due some popular demands.
Big thanks to the game prizes donors, $50 worth of burgers, hot dogs, cheese from Rolly & Lydia Gonzales, one bucket of boneless chicken from Gerry & Perfid Bulatao, raffle prizes from Pangasinan Association President and COPAO Vice President, Julio De Guzman Jr. My special thanks goes out to Felix Macaraeg for reserving the Gazebo at 2:30 am and saving the club $300. Big thanks to the officers and members who planned and coordinated this successful event. Mabuhay.
